would love to see a windhawk mod or smth that can replicate this
It is unclear, what you are asking for. Doubling mouse cursor or what? Probably the slide animations. It can be restored with UPMCalc or such but looks broken due to DWM and the fast clock speed.

would love to see a windhawk mod or smth that can replicate this You don't need windhawk for those animations
You can config windows to use them but they are too fast

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay Doesn't solve the issue actually. Animations are still buggy, but take longer to appear, and somewhere like Open-Shell start menu, which depends on the same key, the delay before menu appearing gets painfully slow. The proper solution to the clockspeed problem is absolutely required here.

How possible would it be to create a Windhawk mod that makes thumbnail previews look like in Vista? (Currently, if you replace the necessary icon resources in imageres.dll, the thumbnail frame graphic will map incorrectly and only show up on the corners, overlapping the image itself).

View Attachment(Currently, if you replace the necessary icon resources in imageres.dll, the thumbnail frame graphic will map incorrectly and only show up on the corners, overlapping the image itself). Maybe you can take the thumbnail shell extension from Vista and it will work on a newer Windows version...

I wonder, if it is possible to create a mod that makes Windows Update to bypass hardware check so to allow in-place update of Windows version on unsupported hardware?

Restore/recreate the "systray" show desktop shortcut from Win7 classic theme
It is there already, actually, efforts are needed to remove it, not to restore it.
This is (outlined in red) the "Hide Show Desktop Button" checkbox in 7+TT:

I am missing the icon though. Since with classic theme the 5px wide clickable area is not exactly on the edge it is very hard without the icon

It is enabled here too. Can click the narrow invisible area, but no visible desktop icon Maybe this is a Win 21H2 thing i don't know.

I confirm, in Windows 10 21H2 (and all previous versions that I know of) the show desktop button displays a line, but no icon.
