I had to re-install W10, so I went with 1607 LTSB this time.   "Documents" section leads to not only documents.   Start menu is still a WIP and nearly back to what I had before; just need to resort the Programs and Favorites sections and it's back to the way it used to be.  "Settings" section is fully restored as it was before, and yes, all this links back to their respected Control Panel items, native to W10 and the classic ones from W98/2k.   Context menus are now cleaner, with useless clutter removed.  Desktop icons are now at the correct size.  Explorer is still a massive WIP; need to make up some custom icons for the address text (which will replace the big stop button) and a Go button icon, but I'm having difficulty getting Quero to accept them. I'm not touching the computer icon in the status bar, no matter how bad I wish I could. Credits: ROB: The site, icons, scripts, help threads. Anixx: Assorted scripts, help threads, help here and there. Splitwirez: Assorted scripts, help threads, and other stuff. Baloo: For convincing me take the plunge into installing Classic theme in the first place. Spitfirex86: His Reactos taskbar script, and other ahk scripts. 6sicsix: His Win10 Automated Classic Theme bat script. Powerplayer: For the Win2k System configuration file. To Do:
- Fix up the Start menu by completing the "Programs" and "Favorites" sections.
- Sort out the Explorer address bar with new icons for "Address" and the Go button.
- Re-install every program I used to have.

EDIT II: Small tweak to the desktop context menu "new" items:  EDIT IV: Fugly icon next to "Empty Recycle Bin" removed:  Thursday 4th July 2022 Update: This thread has become a tiny bit long. it's ballooned out way past what I wanted, so I will open up a new thread soon to streamline it all, and I'll post updated screenshots of what my setup looks like now in 2022.

Sadly the site I used to get it from is no more. As for the shield icons, nope - I got that direct from W2k. My days on relying on poorly done packs from DeviantArt are long over, I get what I need now from my own VM installs:  |

As I see, you did not implement some tricks from this site:
* You still have non-32px icons in folders
* You do not have 3D clientedge in folders

I have copies of multiple builds of W10 knocking around on my harddrive. Sadly the site I used to get it from is no more. As for the shield icons, nope - I got that direct from W2k. My days on relying on poorly done packs from DeviantArt are long over, I get what I need now from my own VM installs: if you say direct from win2k, which file contained the shield icons? It would appear you were indeed correct in the first place - I seem to have merged all W2k icons I have (from various packs across the net and from my W2k VM install) accidentally and assumed they were from W2k. I need to organize my icon resources folder. I humbly apologize. |

As I see, you did not implement some tricks from this site: * You still have non-32px icons in folders * You do not have 3D clientedge in folders Thank you, I have Folder Options X installed but never got around to configuring it. What do I need to turn on/off to achieve all that?  |

The methods described on this site use AHK, not Folder Options X, Folder Options X cannot do it.

Anyway, I just spend over an hour looking over your threads regarding both subjects, and I've tried my best at accomplishing both, but I'm going to be honest, I don't grasp it 100& and feel like I've not done it right. On your screenshot the Client Edge seems OK but the icons are not 32px.
If you enabled everything correctly, you now will be able to set the icon size to 32px for a folder via registry (bags) and then apply the look to all folders via folder options dialog.
Shellbagsview utility will help you to locate the settings for any particular folder in the registry. Once you set the icon size to 32px in one folder, you can apply it to all folders via the folder options dialog.

Now the only thing I want to take a stab at is editing the status bar (changing the icon and text to read "My Computer) and fix up the address bar, then I'll be content with Explorer. |

The "My computer" folder belongs to a different class than normal folder windows, so you should set the 32px icons there separately (via Shellbagsview). You should do it separately for all folder classes (network folders, zip folders, etc).

I have a few questions as well.
* How did you make the taskbar to look classic on Win10?
* How did you make Quero to affect File Explorer (on my system it affects only IE)?
By the way, the latest 7+ Taskbar Tweaker utility allows to reduce padding between the tray icons on Win10 to the Win2000/XP standard 2px

It;s a little unfinished, but it's functional besides some issues with the systray. I'd still take it over the default W10 one: www.winclassic.net/thread/177/reactos-taskbar-win10-desktop-classicAs for Quero, IDK, I installed it and enabled it from View>Toolbars and it just...works. Tested it on W7, 10 Home 1709 and LTSB 2016, and it works with Explorer. Maybe it's not compatible with 8? I've not tried it on that.  |

Nothing fancy - I just changed all the respected icons in imageres.dll with CustomiserGod. What program is File Search Classic? This one: sourceforge.net/projects/filesearchclassic/ It's just a free alternative to Agent Ransack. 2 reasons I liked the looks of it: 1. it's aimed at being simple and classic theme oriented and 2. this comment from the author: " The original motivation behind this application was my desire to bring back Windows 98 search. Windows 98 sucked, but the search application was clean, simple and it worked. I hated the less than functional "new" Windows 2000/XP style search - and it's never improved, IMHO. I DON'T want file indexing in the background; I DON'T want brain dead wizards; I DON'T want cute animations. I DO want easily recallable search criteria; I DO want to easily select multiple folder trees; I DO want regular expression text searches; etc". As for Paint, corrected it:  Thanks for the tip. |
