is there any way to achieve something like this with 1903? To a degree - Classic Theme no longer crashes, but MS removed the tweak to restore old context menus, so if you force Classic Theme on, you'll get empty menus instead. No workaround at this time. In short: no, it's not a good idea atm. Anywho's, a small update: With a couple of programs I found, the ReactOS taskbar is vastly improved: Actual classic style "pressed" buttons, the ability to group taskbar items and arrange their location at-will and also hide the systray as well. Programs used: Taskbowfree. Allows you to group tasks, move tasks around the taskbar, as well enables the taskbar tasks buttons to gain the classic "pressed" look (e.g. in bold). TrayPilot: This adds a button the right which enables you to hide the tray and clock. You'll want version 1.10 build 5 as later versions don't work with the ROS taskbar. Again, Wayback is your friend. Downside is it's shareware. EDIT: I think I'm tapping out in regards to customizing File Explorer - I'd like to do more to do with it, but it's the best I got atm:

Awesome write-up Jackal, you are KILLING it! I just stumbled upon this forum, you helped me spruce up my UI for Windows 10 for sure. I'm dual booting Linux with Chicago95 as well, but still doesn't look quite as nice as Classic Theme on Windows 10. Something about the resolution I can't seem to fix. Surprisingly, my Classic Theme setup is still mostly intact despite some updates. I'm still on 1803 though, so hopefully I skip over to 1903 whenever it decides to force update my computer. My only problem is now with a new security update the ugly white ribbon has invaded my explorer taskbar. What is Quero in regards to explorer? I may have to download that. I had to re-install W10, so I went with 1607 LTSB this time. "Documents" section leads to not only documents. Start menu is still a WIP and nearly back to what I had before; just need to resort the Programs and Favorites sections and it's back to the way it used to be. "Settings" section is fully restored as it was before, and yes, all this links back to their respected Control Panel items, native to W10 and the classic ones from W98/2k. Context menus are now cleaner, with useless clutter removed. Desktop icons are now at the correct size. Explorer is still a massive WIP; need to make up some custom icons for the address text (which will replace the big stop button) and a Go button icon, but I'm having difficulty getting Quero to accept them. I'm not touching the computer icon in the status bar, no matter how bad I wish I could. Credits: ROB: The site, icons, scripts, help threads. Anixx: Assorted scripts, help threads, help here and there. Splitwirez: Assorted scripts, help threads, and other stuff. Baloo: For convincing me take the plunge into installing Classic theme in the first place. Spitfirex86: His Reactos taskbar script, and other ahk scripts. 6sicsix: His Win10 Automated Classic Theme bat script. Powerplayer: For the Win2k System configuration file. To Do:
- Fix up the Start menu by completing the "Programs" and "Favorites" sections.
- Sort out the Explorer address bar with new icons for "Address" and the Go button.
- Re-install every program I used to have.
EDIT: Had some time, so did the "Send to" folder:
EDIT II: Small tweak to the desktop context menu "new" items: EDIT IV: Fugly icon next to "Empty Recycle Bin" removed:

Honestly I would suggest installing LTSB 2016 of W10 - it only gets security updates and it's supported up until Oct 2026. It's an older build designed for stable platforms (think ATMs and the such), so it's lightweight and best of all, there's no bloat. If you're interested, PM me on here or on Sega-16. As for Quero, that's the address bar I'm using: www.quero.at/

Tired of Windows 10 updates just completely breaking things for no good reason, and W10 has taken up so much of my hard drive anyway that it's cramping my Debian dual boot installation. I would love to "Upgrade" to LTSB 10 without deleting my Grub bootloader or anything like that. I'll shoot you a PM.

^ I sent you a PM last Sunday but haven't heard back. I know the fact you have to use "other means" to activate it is not appealing, but it's sadly the only way to get LTSB. OT: I was wrong, this is my final Explorer edit:

Made some changes to Win2k's System Properties CPL, was fun to do to be honest. To get the "Registered to" info to show, I directly added the text via Resource Hacker - this was not reading the RegisteredOwner & RegisteredOrganization from the registry at all. And a screenshot of my desktop now:

How did you make the taskbar sized 28px?

How did you make the taskbar sized 28px? I use a bat script that closes explorer then instantly restarts it - this causes the taskbar to shrink and context menus to lose their theming. I then load up the reactos taskbar script to replace the botched taskbar. See this video .

Can you post a screenshot of the "botched" taskbar? In the video it looks different from your previous screenshot: i.imgur.com/1symy0E.png

^ That was when I was on build 1709, Home. I'm on 1607 LTSB now. Anyway, this is what it looks like with StartisBack on: And with SiB off:

Well, the colorization possibly can be removed, the border restored the same way as on Win8.1. The QuickLaunch (and tray?) will be OK. The main problem is with the taskbar, particularly with the absense of labels. The same problem appeared in IE with tabs in Windows 8.1 after some update.

Anixx I tried what you asked and it looks the same; the tray doesn't work still and the text boxes in the taskbar are still blank. There's no point bothering with the default taskbar imho, MS have royally screwed it up. As for updates on my setup, I've started on the Control Panel itself now: Tedious as hell to do to be honest.

Anixx I tried what you asked and it looks the same; the tray doesn't work still and the text boxes in the taskbar are still blank. It was not meant to fix the text in taskbar or tray. But rather the colors and the taskbar boder. Does it make any difference? Also, it seems you have something in the tray like number "100" or it is an illusion?
