16bitlover: See my post here: www.winclassic.net/post/3141. anixx: >Note that if you replace icons via registry, you have to change icons separately for 64-bit and 32-bit programs (in separate registry branches) Thanks. I'll keep note of that/ >They are already in the system. They are used in MSC. Ahh, that explains it. Very rarely use them. >I use "all tasks" view of the control panel I wonder is there a CLSID for that view? I've added "full" and "Catagories view" to my Start menu already and that would be a good addition.

Windows Media Player 7 on W10! Well, okay, it's not really. It's WMP9. I just replaced all icons with their '7 counterparts and managed to rip the 'default' skin from WMP7. Why didn't I just install WMP7? Because 9 is more friendlier with my games and doesn't cause issues with 'em. As much as I like the full mode look of 7, I'd much have this modified 9 which actually works without the undesired side-effects. If anyone wants the skin and the modified dll, let me know, and I'll post it here.

The Jackal: I don't understand. The quero toolbar says it's for Internet Explorer, not file explorer. How did you do it?

16bitlover : It works on both. anixx : Thanks, I've got it working, but it's super flakey on W10. Most of the time it'll just show as an empty explorer window. But here it is when wants to show: My amended Start menu:

The Jackal: the address bar looks amazing and I finally have it. I have another problem: the damned command bar. Even if I use the script to remove the address bar, I still get the annoying command bar. I tried to disable the ribbon disabler (lol). And I saw it removed the command bar but the ugly ribbon was there. I activated it again and the command bar was there again. Do you have any idea what is happening? It makes no sense that the ribbon disabler activates the command bar. How the hell did you get rid of it?

I've honestly no idea - when I was on Win10 1709 I had the same issue. It's only when I re-installed and using the script I posted on the page previous, did it go away. I don't know what to say otherwise, the thing was a pain in the neck and I just got lucky.

Next objective: Remove Quick Access from my Open/Save dialog menus! I've removed Quick Access everywhere else, but it persists here. I can't find anything online on how to remove it, at least in these dialogs. The only one it doesn't affect is this one. I'm happy with this one.

you should make resource hacker res files of all these icon mods so they could be replaced within a few clicks . that open menu has the xp buttons you need to change them to win95/nt style

I can share my modified dlls which I've backed up, but I'm not sure if that would be be safe to transfer over to another build. But if anyone wants them, just ask. As for the XP toolbar in the last Save dialog, I know, it's something I'm gonna change, but like with the above post, I don't know where to start.

You could provide the icons, if that's possible.

I can provide both my imageres dlls, but all the icons I have are in a mess and not stored properly and they take up quite a large space. That and my internet sucks atm. I can provide links to where I got most of them from, but sorry, packing them all up is out of the question. anonfiles.com/67a0Gc8ana/Imageres_7z

How did you make the icons appear as 32 x 32?

I've gotten rid of Quick Access somehow. I might have done something else in Regedit as well, but I haven't seen Quick Access in some time now. I know for a fact it's completely gone from my explorer though. What mouse icon are you using clasurol?

I've removed Quick Access with help from the peeps from Tenforums; turns out I was using an outdated method to do it. Anywhos, some updates: My desktop as it is now. "Everything" (fantastic search program), changed it's icon to the W98 magnifier. EVERY tray icon has been changed to something "classic". Here's a rundown of each one from left to right: 1. D Color XP - D Color XP (program that allows for the font background on the desktop icons) 2. WinEjet - WinEject (program that allows for the disc tray to be open/closed from the systray) 3. Power Cable Icon - Lightshot (screen capture program) 4. W2K MSN Messenger icon - Default Windows volume (ROS taskbar will show this icon regardless of your settings) 5. W98 WebTV icon - Unchecky (program that scans for hidden adware in installers; again ROS ignores and shows it regardless) 6. Malwarebytes Old Icon - Volume2 (alternative sound manager program, I use it mainly for quick access to sound settings) 7. W2K Device icon - Simplewall (really good third party firewall program) 8. Task Manager - Task Manager 9. ASuite - ASuite (program launcher) 10. ClipCache - ClipCache (really old but good clipboard manager). 11. W2K Windows Update icon - WatchCat (program to hide programs or the taskbar). 12. W2k Network icon - WatchCat network flyout. 13. W2k Internat - W2k Internat. 14. W9x Volume Icon - 3RVX skinnable sound manager + my own W98/2K volume slider skin. Start menu, all icons sourced by myself (and some of them created in GIMP). Not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. Favorites section of my Start menu, all the links exactly like the ones from W98 and ME, and all of them work. I also added tooltips to every.single.one. That meant ripping them from their CNT file or whatever it is (really a renamed txt file) and entering into Classic Shell one at a time. What can I say? I'm a stickler for details. EDIT: And finally, sorted out the PlacesBar in the old Save/Open dialogs to match W2k's. The "XP" version of this dialog's dll is signed so I can't change it's toolbar, but I can live with that tbh.

Windows 10 and it's system files being digitally signed is a PITA. With so many restrictions in place, it's frustrating trying to customize my OS, only to find whatever I want to edit can't be. Roadblocks at every avenue it seems. Like winver. Always wanted to change that. But I can't. So I made my own. Might not mean much to others, but I'm chuffed to bits that I finally worked out how to use a resource editor properly. + I've done other edits to my start menu, but they are pretty uneventful.
