winMoj This is an alternative to the default emoji picker. The main advantage is that it does not depend on the ShellExperienceHost process. However, there are several flaws: - Classic theme controls and colors are not respected - The memory consumed is quite high. www.winmoji.com/

WeatherMate worked perfectly fine for me. Looks exactly like Internat in Windows 2000.
Only thing I don't like about it is that it stays in Alt - Tab.

Try using Nircmd and the win hide class parameter. Not sure if it would work with WeatherMate, but I use that to hide Malwarebytes from ALT+TAB.

github.com/henrypp/chrlauncherThis is a launcher for Chromium called chrlauncher. It auto updates Chromium builds each time there's a new release, which is a problem I saw some people have with Chromium as it's not convenient for them to download new installers each time a new version is released. By default it uses official Chromium builds, but if you edit chrlauncher.ini you can easily make it install and launch ungoogled-chromium. It is also 'portable' but if you use it on another computer or another installation of Windows your logins, cookies, extensions and stuff will be reset which is annoying. From what I saw on the GitHub readme.md it can also launch Firefox-based browsers, but it can't update them making it useless.

Found this on a freeware compilation cd: eFX is a windows look and feel manipulator for Win95, Win98, and WindowsNT. Pretty much like WindowBlinds, only more simplier, and a bit buggier. It's by the same people who went on to do Litestep, and I think it IS the groundwork for Litestep. Attachments:Efx.zip (209.04 KB)

The Jackal Efx is really good. There are also ShellWm, Ilumination and TrueTransarency in the same genre. The main problem is still the same: 64bit programs are not supported. I think it's possible to compile Ilumination in 64 bits, because it's open-source. For the others, it would be necessary to use a decompiler (I absolutely do not know how).

Thank you Orthodox. I've tried out shellvm and TT, but I can't find Ilumination (Google is really bad these days). Do you have a link to it? Cheers.

Does not really have any settings, is very easy to use. Works on Windows, Linux, and Mac (command line only ).

Does not really have any settings, is very easy to use. Works on Windows, Linux, and Mac (command line only ). Nice, looks good. Here's some more programs: RadioSure - allows you to listen to internet radio. Def the best of the bunch IMO (and I've tried quite a few), has a large fanbase that have kept it's database updated despite the fact the program itself has been abandoned by it's dev. Download link here: www.radiosure.fr/SmartTab - ALT+Tab alternative. From 2006, but still works fine on W10/11 if have classic theme enabled. You can change the colour of the program, but it's pretty silly (you need to run the program and use custom parameters). Link here: web.archive.org/web/20091001182510/http://www.smarttab.org/index.phpSwitcheroo - Another ALT+Tab alternative, but this one is designed for typing. You can evoke it by using ALT+Space or outright replace ALT+Tab itself. Link here: github.com/kvakulo/SwitcherooEDIT: RadioSure has skin support, but finding them is a little bit hard due to the official site no longer being around. I've packed up the most I could find here: drive.google.com/file/d/1Ht5fkFrsCQS3A_NIbsHs2WfZw4-coPWu/view?usp=share_link

WatchCat. WatchCat is a small system tray applet for hiding application windows. Windows hidden by WatchCat also will disappear from taskbar and Alt+Tab chain. It’s extremely convenient if you need to keep applications such as MS Outlook open all the time but don’t check them often. As for me, sooner or later such applications get in a way in wrong time and get killed by Alt+F4. Here is a list of most impressive WatchCat features. · WatchCat sits in system tray as an icon and doesn't take much of your screen surface. If you think that an icon in system tray is too much - you can remove it and access WatchCat by hot key. · WatchCat can minimize windows to system tray. · WatchCat can hide the window you're working in by pressing user-defined hot key. Now you can safely play solitaire, chat on IRC, do whatever you want even if your boss is nearby. Pressing this hot key will instantly flush "illegal" program off your screen. · WatchCat can hide windows by right-clicking "minimize" button on window's caption · WatchCat has incredibly powerful feature - window rules. Using them you can define how WatchCat will handle every window. · Hide the window automatically if it wasn't used some period of time. · Close the window automatically if it wasn't used some period of time. · Make window to minimize to system tray. · Protect hidden windows with password. Window rules are great way to handle windows selectively. You can tell WatchCat that, for example, your e-mail program should be minimized to tray if it was not accessed for more than two minutes. · Using WatchCat it's possible to define menus similar to regular Windows' "Start menu" for any folder on your computer. You can define how you want to access such menus: by hot keys, by icon in system tray or both. And, of course, all these features are highly configurable and may be independently turned on and off. - Can minimize nearly any program to the tray by right clicking on the program's button in the title bar. The minimized program can unhiden by clicking on from WatchCat's system tray menu. Does not work on 64 bit programs. - Can acess a start menu -esque drop-down of the drive the program resides on by right clicking on the in the program's title bar. Again, does not work with 64 bit programs. An example of this menu: - Can access a menu with handy power user options such as changing the program's priority, making the program stay on top, as well as more by right clicking on the button in the title bar. Again, only works for 16 bit and 32 bit programs. Example: - Can change WatchCat's icon to anything you like. - Can use WatchCat to lock your computer (a feature I've not used and would suggest against). - Can use maximize or hide all programs at once. - Can hide the taskbar. - Can hide desktop icons. - Can make desktop icons transparent (a redundant feature on modern Windows). - Can re-enable desktop icon text colour backgrounds by unticking the feature above (in laymans, it does what Iconoid does). - Can add your own items to the system tray, like a network shortcut or a directory tree. - Hotkey functionality. - Create your own "rules" (commands with custom hotkey). - Timer, but I can't get it to work. Program needs to be run as Admin under latest builds of Windows. Link here: www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Other-Desktop-Enhancements/WatchCat.shtml

This utility is good, however, it has a big problem: under old text treatments, it does not work. While Winmoji works for everything.
