Question: Is Echelon compatible with BetterFox? I'm trying to install it and as far as i know it changes about:config assets... You might have to play with some of the configured UI options, but I don't see why it would be strictly incompatible.

thanks but I found another method - changing the values though about:config
what values did you change? i tried looking around in the source for like 5 minutes to no avail and i cant seem to get the echelon options up on linux (or i may be stupid), in comparison to windows i did move all of the chrome into the profile i was using, but i moved all of the firefox config to /usr/lib/mozilla. besides that the theme works perfectly with some minor bugs that i hardly see, just wondering if theres a manual way to change the theme like you managed to. in the first days I simply did not have the “echelon” settings, then I installed it again and everything began to work fine for me

i got echelon settings and the entire theme working more properly on linux, just had to find the correct firefox directory, the contents of the "firefox folder" need to be copied into whichever of the following exists /opt/firefox-esr /usr/lib/firefox-esr
if neither exist you can just check what directory the firefox-esr binary in /usr/bin is symlinked to and that should be the same directory to copy the files into
on arch it was weirdly in the /opt/ directory, however on debian it was in the /usr/lib/ directory, so i assume it depends on the distro. the theme itself works pretty flawlessly it looks like, i did have to disable the titlebar aswell, although im sure thats already the default in most distros. linux itself also doesnt have support for the native controls patch, however the titlebar buttons are taken from my gtk theme, and the scrollbar is somewhat taken from my gtk theme, only really tinted in the themes colours though rather then the actual bars used everywhere else. if i do find a way to use native scrollbars from the gtk theme or to change them in general ill update this reply, not sure if itll be officially supported, but it could help others looking for a solution so im willing to write it down here atleast. perhaps it would be worth adding to the installation page or the readme?

For those that have a problem with the titlebar and tabs, remember to get the Firefox Native Controls patch here so it follows the Windows Theme.

Is there any way to keep the tabs under the Firefox button when maximizing the Window? I've just noticed when you maximize the tabs position themselves next to the Firefox button. Anyway, this is an amazing work, the theme that I use is identical to Firefox 4's. Attachments:

Anyway, this is an amazing work, the theme that I use is identical to Firefox 4's. You would have to extend the theme with your own CSS. You can create a file called "_chrome_user.css" in the profile folder for this purpose. That is fully compatible with Echelon, so it won't break updating Echelon or anything.

I'm learning Web Programming and as I'm still finishing HTML I know very little of css, so I'd have to look it on the Internet to help me. However my css knowledge is still quite low.

Oh, I'm so stupid, what I said here is in fact normal because on Firefox 4 when maximizing it does the same thing, the tabs position themselves next to the button. I'm sorry. This mod is fucking impressive really, thank you all. However, it asks for update 404 and I can't find it on Github, it's likely a bug or an unreleased version of the theme.

It's the latest version in the upstream build.txt file. If you just download ZIP in GitHub at the top (Code -> Download ZIP) instead of downloading from releases, it should be fine I think.

It actually works pretty good on Waterfox if you get the Native Controls patch from there: github.com/kawapure/firefox-native-controlsas it's based on Firefox 115.10.0 ESR. There are just a few areas where the branding gets confused, but you can always just replace the textures so that it actually gets branded as Firefox, or Waterfox. I didn't expect the devs to actually patch some textures specifically for Waterfox. Anyway, to get the patched Waterfox to look more like Firefox, you can just go to Echelon's settings, and get the settings like this in the screenshot below and patch the icon textures this way. Don't forget to also patch Waterfox' executable using something like Resource Hacker to get its icon in the titlebar and taskbar right Tadaa! Ask me if you want old Firefox and Waterfox' .ico icons, I can't attach more than 5 files per post

I use regular Firefox, and to change the icon I just had to change 3 icon groups in Resource Hacker. May I ask you why do you use Waterfox? Is it better than regular Firefox?

I think you'll have to set override Windows version to 7 for Native Controls Patch in order for it to use the correct window metrics for basic theme caption buttons. I don't remember if I made this behaviour conditional, or fixed it in all cases.

Well, it doesn't have regular Firefox' telemetry out of the box, meaning you don't have to disable a lot of stuff every time you make a new profile. You can still harden Firefox yourself, but I don't actually know if there's a way to create profiles, disable the telemetry and download your extensions without opening the browser.

That is quite interesting, although I believe there's an easy way to disable telemetry on Firefox. I think it's just an option in about:config, I'll have to find it out since I haven't disabled telemetry yet. Sorry for changing the subject, do you use Classic Task Manager for Windows 10? I use it and it doesn't update the information, it stays frozen. Do you have any problems with it? I will have to ask the forum by opening a thread.
