Windows Media Player 7 on W10! Well, okay, it's not really. It's WMP9. I just replaced all icons with their '7 counterparts and managed to rip the 'default' skin from WMP7. Why didn't I just install WMP7? Because 9 is more friendlier with my games and doesn't cause issues with 'em. As much as I like the full mode look of 7, I'd much have this modified 9 which actually works without the undesired side-effects. If anyone wants the skin and the modified dll, let me know, and I'll post it here. Can you link the skin and modified DLL?

i use media player home cinema much better then wmp looks very classic without that wmp9 microsoft bob stuff WMP is good enough. I only use it for wma and wmv files, otherwise I use other players. OT: Desktop as of now: Also sorted out Task Manager's icon. It seems taskbowfree takes the 48x48 size then downgrades it: Now, after I fixed it: Solved it simply by making the 16x16 size the only one.

So, that taskbowfree works well in classic theme? Is it a good replacement for the default taskbar? Is it under Win10?

Well, I installed Taskbowfree on Windows 8.1. It does not replace the Explorer's taskbar window, just the taskbar panel. So, the tray and start menu are unaffected. The QuickLaunch of Taskbowfree for unknown reason has dark background and the shortcuts work wrong way (starts cmd.exe in wrong encoding!) so I disabled it, the normal quicklaunch of Windows is OK. The active window button is underlined Win10-style (is there a way to disable it? your screenshot does not have it) There is no space between buttons (is there a way to add?). Buttons are highlited on hover (is there a way to disable it?) Overall, if it works the same way under Win10, it is a good alternative. Do you know how to remove the black line under the active task? UPDATE. Windows 7 compatibility mode fixes this. UPDATE2. Even Win7RTMVersionLie compat fix is enough.

Taskbow doesn't work well with W10's default taskbar, no. I found an older build works wonders with Reactos taskbar, and gives it the classic "pressed" button look and offers up stuff you can't do with the Reactos taskbar as standard like move tasks around.
From experience, I wouldn't use it on anything else except the ROS taskbar. I'm not a fan of the program, it feels half finished.

Well, the support seems active, they fixed the issue with Win8.1 detection since my last post The test build is here: www.taskbow.com/taskbowfree.1.1.7.3.zip

He/she has ironed out all the issues I had with it, including the icon degrading as well a the blue "Taskbow" band that showed when you hid the taskbar in the last build. Sincere apologies to the developer.

Figured out a great workaround for Reactos's dodgy system tray: Someone on another forum gave me the idea to try out a dock, and normally I wouldn't even consider using one because frankly I think they are ugly, but I did some research and found out Winstep Nexus has it's own systray. A little tweaking later, and it looks pretty good. More importantly, it functions great as a second systray area. Just load up Nexus first, then whatever program you want to display in the tray area, then load up the Reactos taskbar (otherwise any new programs that you launch after won't show up in Nexus because it hooks to the default W10 systray and now the ROS tray is loaded in it's place). If you want to add more programs, kill the ROS taskbar, launch programs, then re-load ROS. I have it hidden off to the right, where it disappears until I point the mouse in that general vicinity of my desktop.

And you criticize me for using the startisback classic win7 style menu using this ugly sidebar aint in my book.

And you criticize me for using the startisback classic win7 style menu Excuse me? I've never criticized you for using Spitfire_x86's W7 SiB skin. It's a good skin, but it's not for me. ROS taskbar suits my tastes because it's closer to the 9x taskbar, warts and all. > using this ugly sidebar aint in my book. Ok? You use Startisback, this would be of no need to you. I don't like the dock either, but it works, so in this case, functionality>looks.

True but there is a 9x taskbar for startisback too without the show hide desktop button however i like that feature ah well each on his own

how did you get that winver? explain step by step. (to prove without raging, on vista with RH, i tried modifing build number to 2195 or some number, but it always shows 6001 other than the number i input, also i can't show the "Physical memory available to Windows: X KB" [as x means the amount of P.M.] thingy. also windows 2000 SP maxes out at sp4, not sp5. also it should be Build 2195:, not build 2195; [since a semicolon is a typo, not a correct symbol. so it should be :] ).

The Jackal I would be pretty happy if you could share an ISO with everything modded by you (classic theme).
